The healthcare system in Turkey has a mixed structure consisting of public and private healthcare providers. Health services are managed by the Ministry of Health. Financing of health services in Turkey is generally provided by an insurance system administered by the Social Security Institution (SGK). SGK provides health services to employees and retirees in Turkey, as well as other people covered by various social security. Employees working under SSI can benefit from health services by paying their premiums regularly. People who do not work under SSI or who are not covered by social security generally benefit from health services within the scope of General Health Insurance (GSS).
