Malaysia's military force is provided by the Royal Malaysian Army (Angkatan Tentera Malaysia - ATM). ATM has the core missions of protecting Malaysia's territorial integrity, ensuring national defense and promoting peace. The Royal Malaysian Army has three separate branches of service: Army, Navy and Air Force. These forces total approximately 110,000 active personnel. The Land Forces are responsible for the defense of Malaysian territory. The Ground Forces are equipped with armored vehicles, artillery systems, small arms and other military equipment. Additionally, the Land Forces perform internal security duties such as combating terrorism and border security. The Navy is responsible for protecting Malaysia's seas and marine resources.
