Wars in which Malaysia participated

Malaysia has participated in many wars throughout history. Here are some important wars in which Malaysia participated:

1. World War I (1914-1918): Malaysia automatically joined the war because it was a colony of the British Empire at the time. Malaysian soldiers served in the British army and fought on various fronts.

2. World War II (1939-1945): In this war, which started with Japan's occupation of Malaysia, Malaysia resisted the Japanese Empire. However, the Japanese captured Malaysia and occupied the region.

3. Malayan Civil War (1948-1960): Malaysia struggled to gain its independence during the British Empire. Guerrilla wars took place between communists and government forces, and eventually Malaysia achieved independence.

4. Indonesia-Malaysia War (1963-1966): Malaysia merged with Singapore, Sarawak and North Borneo in 1963 to form the Federation of Malaysia. Thereupon, Indonesia tried to prevent this unification by attacking Malaysia. However, Malaysian forces repelled Indonesian attacks and as a result of the war, the Malaysian Federation was established.

5. Lahad Datu conflict (2013): A group of gunmen from the Philippines attacked Malaysia in the Lahad Datu region. As a result of these clashes, Malaysian security forces neutralized the attackers.
