Tunisia is a country located in North Africa and its military power is provided by the Tunisian Armed Forces (Forces Armées Tunisiennes). The Tunisian Armed Forces consist of three main components: Land Forces, Navy and Air Force. Tunisia's military structure is based on the compulsory military service system. Male citizens are usually drafted into the military at age 18, and military service lasts approximately 12 months. However, in some cases, those with a university education or those from certain professional groups may shorten their military service period.
