Traditional Tunisian clothing consists of caftans, robes and abayas, usually made of colorful and patterned fabrics. Women wear "safsari", a type of headscarf that covers their heads and faces. However, Tunisian Fashion has changed over time. Especially in the 20th century, Western fashion entered Tunisia and modern clothing styles were adopted. After Tunisia gained its independence in 1956, it entered a modernization process and this process also had an impact on the fashion field.
