The greatest events in the History of Western Sahara

The major events in the history of Western Sahara are:

1. 1975-1991: Western Sahara War - A war that began with the invasion of Western Sahara by Morocco and Mauritania and continued with the struggle for independence of the Sahraui people led by the Polisario Front. As a result of this war, Morocco continues to control the regions it took control of.

2. 1991: Signing of a ceasefire agreement between Morocco and the Polisario Front - A ceasefire agreement was signed between Morocco and the Polisario Front, mediated by the United Nations (UN). As a result of this agreement, the status of Western Sahara still remains unclear.

3. 1991-present: UN Peacekeeping mission - UN's peacekeeping force called MINURSO (United Nations Mission in Western Sahara) works to implement the ceasefire agreement and hold a referendum in Western Sahara.
