What is Guinea's form of government?
Guinea's form of government is a republic governed by a presidential system. The president of the country is elected by the people and serves as the head of state. The president has legislative, executive and judicial powers. The National Assembly, the legislative body, elects its members by direct vote of the people. The judicial branch operates independently. Political parties operate in Guinea and there is a multi-party system. However, the democratization process in the country has not been fully realized and political rights have been restricted. For this reason, human rights violations and political oppression occur frequently in Guinea.
