Wars in which Senegal took part

Senegal has participated in many wars throughout history. Here are some of the important wars in which Senegal participated:

1. World War I: Senegal participated in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, when it was a French colony. It mostly provided military and material support to the French army.

2. Second World War: Senegal participated in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945, when it was still a French colony. Senegalese soldiers fought alongside the French army and fought against German and Italian forces in Africa.

3. Senegal-Mauritania War (1989): This war broke out between Senegal and Mauritania in 1989 and resulted from the territorial dispute between the two countries. The war was described as a short-term conflict.

4. Liberian Civil War: Senegal also sent soldiers to the civil war in Liberia in the 1990s. Senegalese soldiers joined the West African Peace Force, formed under the name ECOMOG (Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group), and intervened in the conflicts.

5. Sierra Leone Civil War: Senegal also sent soldiers to the civil war in Sierra Leone between 1991 and 2002. Senegalese soldiers intervened in the war and helped restore peace as part of ECOMOG. Senegal has also participated in international peacekeeping operations and tried to find solutions to conflicts in different regions.
