Greece Political parties

There are various political parties in Greece. Here are some important political parties in Greece:

1. Syriza (Coalition of the Radical Left): Founded in 2004, Syriza is known as a left-leaning political party. The party led by Alexis Tsipras, who came to power in the general elections in 2015 and became the prime minister of Greece, tried to solve Greece's debt problem by negotiating with the European Union and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

2. New Democracy: New Democracy, the centre-right party of Greece, was founded in 1974. The party was in power between 2004-2009 and 2012-2015. Party leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis was elected as prime minister in the general elections held in 2019.

3. Pasok (Panellenic Socialist Movement): Founded in 1974, Pasok is one of the oldest political parties in Greece. The party has a social democratic line. Pasok came to power many times between 1981 and 2012.

4. KKE (Communist Party of Greece): Founded in 1918, KKE is one of the oldest political parties in Greece. The party adopts a Marxist-Leninist ideology and advocates the idea of communism in Greece.

5. Golden Dawn: Founded in the 1980s, Golden Dawn is a far-right and nationalist political party. The party has an anti-immigrant and anti-imperialist discourse. In 2019, party leader Nikos Michaloliakos and many party members were convicted for murder and acts of violence. In addition to these parties, there are also smaller political parties in Greece.
