Spain Political parties

Political parties in Spain generally center around major parties such as the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and the People's Party (PP). Additionally, new and emerging political parties such as Podemos, Ciudadanos and Vox also play an important role. PSOE is known as Spain's oldest and largest left-leaning party. He played an important role during the democratic transition in Spain (1975-1978) and has experience of coming to power since the 1980s. PP is known as a centre-right party. It has come to power since the 1990s and has been the main actor of Spanish politics for a long time. Podemos emerged as a left-wing populist party founded in 2014. It gained popularity, especially among young people, and achieved significant success in the general elections held in 2015. Ciudadanos, on the other hand, emerged as a centre-right party founded in 2006. The party, which was first effective in Catalonia, later grew throughout Spain and achieved a significant vote share in the general elections held in 2019. Vox emerged as a far-right party founded in 2013. He advocates anti-immigrant, nationalist and centre-right policies. It achieved significant success in the general elections held in 2019.
