Women form an important part of society in Sudan. Sudan is one of the largest countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and is ethnically and culturally diverse. Therefore, there may be differences in women's lifestyle, traditions and social norms. In Sudan, women play an active role in many areas of society. For example, women are involved in fields such as education, health, economy and politics. Women's educational attainment is increasing in Sudan and many women are attending university. However, educational opportunities may be limited in rural areas. In Sudan, the family structure is generally patriarchal, meaning that men have more power in society.
