Rwanda Political parties

The number and effectiveness of political parties in Rwanda are limited. This is a measure taken to ensure political stability after a long civil war and ethnic conflicts in the country. The Constitution adopted in Rwanda in 2003 restricted the multi-party political system in order to prevent ethnic discrimination and promote national unity and integrity. Political parties in Rwanda are under the control of the government led by the National Alliance Party (Rwanda Patriotic Front - RPF). The RPF is a guerrilla movement that fought to end the genocide in the country in 1994 and subsequently formed the government. 2. Rwanda Progressive and Democratic Progressive Party (Parti du Progrès et de la Démocratie Progressiste - PPDP): This party aims to promote democracy and progress in Rwanda. However, he shows loyalty to the leadership of the RPF.

3. Rwanda Progressive and Socialist Party (Parti du Progrès et du Socialisme - PPS): This party aims to promote socialism. However, its effectiveness and support are limited.
