What is the legal system in Venezuela?

Venezuela is a country in Latin America and its legal system is shaped on the basis of the constitution. The country's constitution is the Bolivarian Constitution, adopted in 1999. There are three separate state bodies in Venezuela: legislative, executive and judicial. The legislative body consists of the National Assembly and the executive branch is governed by the presidential system. The judicial branch is represented by an independent court system. The judicial system in Venezuela is divided into civil and criminal courts. Civil courts deal with matters such as civil law, commercial law and family law, while criminal courts are responsible for prosecuting those who commit crimes. In Venezuela, the judicial branch consists of the supreme court, the Supreme Court of Justice. This court has authority over the interpretation and implementation of the constitution. Additionally, the Supreme Court and Administrative Courts are also included in the judicial system. However, the legal system in Venezuela has undergone major changes in recent years. Due to political instability and economic crisis in the country, the principle of the rule of law has been damaged and the judicial system has lost its independence. This situation caused criticism in the international community.
