What is Myanmar Legal system like?

Myanmar's legal system has a mixed structure. The country coexists with the British legal system developed during the United Kingdom period and traditional Myanmar legal practices. Myanmar adopted the British legal system after gaining independence with the 1947 Constitution. This system is based on a structure in which the legislative, executive and judicial bodies are separate and the laws are written. The source of laws are laws enacted by Parliament. Traditional Myanmar law, as well as the British legal system, are still widely practiced in the country. These courts ensure that laws are enforced and legal processes are followed. However, the legal system in Myanmar has been subject to some criticism. In particular, it is claimed that political influences interfere with the judiciary and that there are corruption problems.
