Wars in which Barbados participated

Barbados has participated in many wars throughout its history. Here are some notable wars in which Barbados participated:

1. American Civil War (1861-1865): Barbados sent troops to support Northern Union forces in the American Civil War. Barbadian soldiers fought primarily in the Massachusetts 54th Colored Infantry Regiment.

2. World War I (1914-1918): Barbados participated in World War I because it was part of the British Empire. Barbadian soldiers served in the British army and fought in Europe.

3. II. World War (1939-1945): Barbados, World War II. It also participated in the war as part of the British Empire in World War II. Barbadian soldiers served in the British army and fought on different fronts of the war.

4. Korean War (1950-1953): Barbados fought on the side of United Nations forces in the Korean War. Barbadian soldiers served in the British Royal Army and fought in Korea.

5. Gulf War (1990-1991): Barbados sided with United Nations forces in the Gulf War. Barbadian soldiers served in the British Royal Army and fought against the invasion of Iraq. These wars took place in the pre- and post-independence periods of Barbados. Today, Barbados also sends soldiers to the United Nations peacekeepers to maintain international peace.
