Canada has a military force called the Royal Canadian Forces (RCMF). The RCMF is part of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and manages Canada's sea, land and air operations. Canada's military force consists of active-duty personnel, reserve personnel and civilian employees. RCMF has a staff of approximately 68,000. Canada's military structure consists of three main forces: the Canadian Army (CKK), the Canadian Navy (CDK) and the Canadian Air Force (CHK). - Canadian Land Forces (CKK): CKK manages Canada's land operations. Its main missions include providing defensive, offensive, reconnaissance and logistics support. CKK consists of armored vehicles, artillery units, engineering units, air defense units and special forces. - Canadian Navy (CDK): CDK manages Canada's naval operations. Its main tasks include ensuring maritime security, protecting maritime trade routes, conducting search and rescue operations and participating in international peacekeeping operations. The CDK consists of frigates, submarines, coast guard ships and support ships. - Canadian Air Force (CHK): CHK manages Canada's air operations. Its main missions include air defense, air strikes, air transport and reconnaissance missions. CHK consists of fighter jets, helicopters, transport aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles. Canada's military force is continually modernizing to provide equipment, training and operational capabilities for national defence. Additionally, as a member of NATO, Canada contributes to the alliance's defense operations.
