Jamaica is an island country located in the Caribbean. The Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) is the main body of the country's military force. The JDF has three main components: the Jamaican Army, the Jamaican Navy and the Jamaican Air Force. The Jamaican Army is the largest component of the JDF and provides the land-based defense of the country. The military's main missions include internal security, border control, disaster response, and international peacekeeping. The Jamaican Army's personnel number is approximately 2,700. The Jamaican Navy performs sea-based defense and security missions.
