Wars in which Seychelles participated

Since Seychelles is an independent island country, it has generally followed a militarily neutral policy. For this reason, it has participated in very few wars throughout history. However, they have participated in some international peace missions. Here are some wars and military operations in which Seychelles participated:

1. Somali Civil War: Seychelles sent soldiers to the African Union Mission (AMISOM) in the Somali Civil War, which started in 1991. This mission aims to stop conflicts and ensure peace in Somalia.

2. Gulf War: In the Gulf War, which broke out as a result of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990-1991, Seychelles supported the coalition forces to save Kuwait. Although Seychelles did not send troops in this war, it provided logistical and financial assistance.

3. Operations Against Somali Pirates: Seychelles also participated in the operations carried out jointly by the international community to combat pirates operating on the coast of Somalia. Seychelles has conducted naval operations against ships hijacked by pirates.

4. Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami: Seychelles was also affected by the major earthquake and tsunami disaster that occurred in the Indian Ocean in 2004. Following the international community's requests for assistance, Seychelles sent aid and support to the region after this disaster. Apart from this, Seychelles is generally known as a peaceful country and does not participate in wars militarily. Although the international community plays an active role in peacekeeping and security operations, it prefers to support diplomatic solutions rather than engage in military interventions.
